Overview
The St Nicholas Project targets nickel and cobalt — critical raw materials essential to the European battery and electric-vehicle supply chain. The project covers laterite and sulphide nickel potential within a well-endowed ultramafic belt.
Extensive historical drilling defined significant nickel intersections that have never been followed up with modern exploration or resource-definition work.
Geology & Mineralisation
The project is underlain by ultramafic rocks that host both lateritic nickel developed through weathering and primary nickel sulphide mineralisation at depth. Cobalt is closely associated with the nickel-bearing horizons.
This dual-style setting provides exposure to near-surface, potentially low-strip laterite mineralisation as well as higher-grade sulphide targets.
Exploration History & Results
Historical drilling by state geological surveys returned notable results, including intersections up to 5.1m @ 6.6% Ni. The data package includes numerous drill holes, maps and reports that provide a strong foundation for target generation.
Yugo Metals is compiling and digitising this historical dataset to prioritise areas for modern verification drilling.
Next Steps
Planned work includes validation of historical data, confirmatory drilling and metallurgical characterisation to assess the project’s potential to contribute to Europe’s critical-minerals supply.
